Carlos Mojica (lead singer, song writer, arranger, producer) was born in Paterson, NJ to Puerto Rican parents.  Carlos is the founder of Sonido Criminal. 

 

Carlos began singing at the age of 15, gaining his experience by singing with local bands, where he was raised, in Orlando, Florida and later on sharing the stage with various artists including Gilberto Santa Rosa, La Sonora Ponceña, El Gran Combo, Tito Rojas, Tito Nieves, Ismael Miranda, Brenda K Starr, Luisito Carrion, Hector Tricoche, Lalo Rodriguez and Tito Puente Jr. In addition, Carlos was the main singer for Johnny Polanco Y Su Conjunto Amistad (LA's top salsa band).

After being with Polanco’s band, Carlos returned to Orlando in 2004 where he began recording his first CD, “Crime Payz” under his own record label, Criminal Sound Productions. The album includes, “RUMBA EN EL CIELO,” “PURO Y SIN CORTE,” “FACEBOOK” and “CARELESS WHISPER,” songs that have gained a tremendous acceptance with many salsa music lovers around the world.  

 

Carlos has just returned from some very successful tours in Panama, Cuba, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Santo Domingo and Mexico where he was promoting his sophomore album, “Competencia Es Ninguna” which was officially released on June 1, 2015.  Some notable tracks on this album include the title song, “Competencia Es Ninguna,” and “Como Un Tatuaje,” along with his phenomenal remakes of the classic tunes “Just The 2 of Us,” “Enganada” and “Los Violentos.”  This new album has already received Awards for Best Tropical Album, Best Tropical Song (Como Un Tatuaje) and Best Tropical Salsa Performance. In addition, Carlos has been recognized with two 24K Gold Plaques for each of his albums.  Needless to say, he has hit another home run with his second album and has solidified his title of “El Criminal De La Salsa.”    

 

Currently, Carlos is preparing to release his third album which is expected to be released in 2018.  The first single that is being promoted is titled, “407,” the area code of Orlando.  “407” was released in August 2016 and caused a huge sensation in the salsa world.  This single reached Number 1 on all of the important Salsa Hit Parades around the world.  Carlos’ second single “Volver A Empezar,” is a romantic salsa tune that is very catchy and has a lot of swing.  It was released in April 2017.  The third single “El Criminal” was released in November 2017.  In addition to releasing new music in 2017, Carlos also traveled around the country performing in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Virginia, Boston, Chicago, New York and Miami.

 

Every track on this album was written, produced and arranged by Carlos Mojica with the help of his musical team. His music is original, creative and relevant.  It is being heard on various radio stations both nationally and internationally which has provided him with a growing fan base throughout the world.
